Hola from Colorado
I'm new here. Need some growing help. I have an outdoor grow going now. I'm a medical licensee. I just did a stupid thing. I have 3 blu tooths growing and was bending the stalk down on one and it snapped. It was brittle and heavy. I've put a splint on it. Should I just take clones from it and not grieve?. I don't know if it is female yet. Oh well, that's life. Will take some pictures and start an album soon. Later..

I put a splint on it and wrapped it with sports tape so hopefully a knot will form. I had one plant I chopped because it had balls. Last year of 18 plants I had, only 2 were female. Wished I could have sexed the plants before I planted them outside. Someone said it was possible. Know anything about that? I hope to start a hydo grow soon. Am researching that. Later

Suggestions and links would be helpful. I've been spending a lot of time on the computer doing research and have figured out that I need a 400 watt Sodium halide light called daystar and it seems a bit pricey goin from 350-600, this is for my new indoor grow I'm starting. I plan to do a hydo bubble ponics setup. Some places have the whole set-up for around 500 but am worried about the light. Suggestions? Thanks..

Welcome to HC Lavender Lady. Ya, if you're planning on switching things up to indoor and hydro there is a bit of reading involved...
As far as where to start, I'd vote for researching and digging into your space you'll be using. That needs to be prepped quite a bit before it's suitable for a grow. We could start there...
Why do you 'need' that particular Daystar? There are other 400w systems and most are cheaper than the one you mentioned and they'll still do the trick.

Hey Lady. Nice to have you here. And yes, you can sex plants before the light starts to change, whether you're indoors or out. As long as there's more than 6 or 7 nodes (sometimes more, sometimes less), you can get down there and check for preflowers.
And for your indoor situation...to get up and running with a hydro system, veg area and flower room...it may cost you a pretty penny. If you aren't going to go with clones, I suggest a Ceramic Metal Halide bulb. I've used one in the past and so do a couple growers on here. They work wonders, if you ask me. And you can veg and flower with the same bulb and get great results.
But like everyone said, just start reading. Take any useful info you see and use the search feature. Check other forums too...ICMag and GrassCity are a couple other places that have good info just like HydroCanna. Get on Amazon and order a book or two. If you put in a couple hours of hard research every day, it shouldn't be too long before your knowledge will be plenty and your buds beautiful.
Again, welcome. We're all looking forward to pictures. -

Still Alive
MalePlant1.jpg
Splint1.jpg
Splint1b.jpgI had a near disaster when I broke the main stem on a Blu Tooth baby yesterday. I took pictures of my splint and pictures again today and you can see that it is alive. and not hurting. I wonder how long I should keep it splinted?
I have looked for those sexual characteristics and identified one with a male flower. And another that might be female.
My indoor grow is 13' x 6' x 5'4"H. It is an eve ceiling so it is angled. a "friend" has recommended the daystar and an aeroflo 20 table method for me. My problem with the space is heat build up and there is no water or drain area. The daystar was recommended because of the venting capabilities. I have heard that the aeroflow plugs up.
Here are 3 pics I took. I hope the file size isn't too small.Last edited by Lavender Lady; 07-16-2009 at 08:55 AM. Reason: Pictures too small

I do have a Question. Is there no regulations there ( State your in ) As if I was handing out to make one a " medical licensee" How do you get that, if your a true Nub at growing. I don't understand, I would assume that only Verified Growers could grow weed, but it appears that its not regulated well, and that too bad as the main reason for shutdowns is due to, bad pot / clones, and poor Doctor decisions.
I'm not trying to ride you, more so get info on the way it appears way too easy to be Licensed.
All of my Respect, Lavender .. ...

Colorado allows you to get your medical license with a drs recommendations. Just like Cali. We can grow our own, up to 6 plants or have a care giver do it for us. It is complicated (in a way). There is a web site Medical Marijuana in Colorado, for all the info. I have used mj for years for medical reasons and rejoice that I can now smoke and grow it legally. I want it legal for all! I understand that there are licenses for the dispensary growers, I haven't researched it yet. Some of that dispensary stuff where I live is no better than street stuff. I am not a nby at growing. Just a nby here and at hydoponics.LL

the splint will do fine..i broke my clone in HALF and didnt even splint her and she grew back just fine!!
about the sexing!!
you just take some clones from the plant that is vegging and you force flower those clones to see the sex..then you know what the big plant is !! very simple process... if you need more info let one of us know and we can walk you thru it!
WELCOME TO HC by the way! love to see new people!

I've been told I can have 6 plants, 3 in veg, and 3 in flower, I'll also be growing for another. So my total would be 12. I've seen perpetual but I thought I do clones and am looking at an areoFlow table setup. I'm looking at LED lights but they are expensive . Maybe 600w. Maybe advanced nutrients for the hydo nutes. Since this is an attic I think it be best not to do perpetual? Biggest problem is getting this loft enclosed with plywood etc. Too many ways to do it. I hope to buy lights this coming week, and I'm still on the fence about the hydo system to use. (Do I really have to buy a reverse osmosis water machine to keep things from plugging up?).
My plant with the splint is still alive but the splint failed.
There was a big gust of wind 50+ mph and splint couldn't withstand it, slpint wasn't strong enough for it. But, it is still alive hanging on by a few fibers. I'm not going to stress it any more. Gave it some extra fish nutes.
I would like to grow more but want to be legal. Thats going to be hard. I have to use the dispensaries to keep me from having too much stash on hand. Then I hope I have a perpetual supply.
Will be doing pic later. LL -

Why no LED lights? They are cooler and cost less to operate. I was going to do the 5 gallon pots becuse you get bigger buds I'm told, but it takes longer. Be easier not to have to mess with hydro since I don't know shit. And I've got some nice plants going now outside that could be turned into perps if I can keep them trained to stay low. I'm trying to do a sog type method.
