Question How to clean a grow room...

    .

I wanted to get some input from fellow HC'ers on how you clean your grow room when its comes time...

Take the worst case scenario, like If you had a room with Powder Mildew everywhere and Pests flying around, how would you go about quarantining and cleaning things without spreading it to the next cycle/grow?

What about things like the outside of nutrient bottles, extra pots, lights, Carbon Filter? Would plant disease stick to those? How would you clean them?

I have an idea of what i want to do but are there any Do's and Don'ts of cleaning a indoor garden?

    Default Good thread, Electro.

This should be helpful to a lot of growers.

I'd get bleach and water for starters. Wipe down everything. Even that tray you think is clean or anything like that. Cover it all to be sure.

Add in a Dr Doom fogger, after your flowering run finishes and before you start another one. Use this before the bleach, should knock out most pests you have kicking around.

PM is tricky in cleaning a room, I've heard bleaching everything worked but haven't tried it myself, let us know how it works for ya if you do that.

    I cleaned my room once....

Use a big pump pesticide sprayer and RESPIRATOR* **** and eye protections, long sleaves or jumpsuit...be carefull
    unplug everything
run bleach/water solution through hydroparts...dismantle and dishwash what you can.
Sweep and vacume loose particles so your not making mud.,
Soak everything really good...even the scruber

Try to do it all fast and precice so bugs and spore don't move around. Hit the areas around the room...hit outside the building around vents..into vents.

Run fans and scrubber to maintain air circulation and gas the air after you've sprayed.
    Soak shit twice..not mist....

I do bleach mix then simple green.

To break it in smoke a fat joint afterwards and place a small houseplant in the room....once you come down from the joint...check on the plant. If its good to go and alive...green light.

Foggers...bug bombs....those are nerve gas guys...pyrithrin is nerve gas and extremely. Bad for humans. I don't advise the us of them and have never set one off. I am bug and pm free.

Pretty much spot on to what I do in between flowering runs. And most have seen my space and how clean it it. I am 100% bug free right now with none in sight. (Thank Hydr!!)

My flower room never sleeps or takes a break unless im taking pics...its pretty clean...I saw a couple ants the other day...they like the carboload. Ill just use grants ants or baking soda to stop them tho because I have read in my research that ants and root aphids work together

yep, add bleach as 5-10% of total water volume. thats just under a cup per gallon at 5%.

ants farm aphids....if you've got both, the problem is probably worse than you think. ants hate molasses, so if you can head em off at the entrance with a spot of molasses, you might be able to cut down on the aphid population. not real sure which one to tackle 1st but i'd start with the ants. then dip the pots again for the aphids. i've never had either problem but after lots and lots and lots of reading, i do remember reading about others with the same problems in other forums.

If you got ants, try diatomaceous earth. Sprinkle some on the grow room floor. That stuff rips them to shreds, literally.

Also works well as a soil amendment, for pest control and as a silica source. Good stuff all around. Don't overpay for it though at a hydro shop. Autostores sell it as oil absorbent, in bulk and cheap too.

Awesome info, thanks to everyone so far. Don't be shy, add info even if this thread is 3 years old

I was watching a documentary called "Microcosmos" yesterday, and it shows hi res video of aphids feeding ants, and ladybugs eating aphids. i'm gonna rip it and post it somewhere, it was fascinating to see how Aphids feed Ants..
